It's the start of a new year...and with it comes new tasks, adventures, and more people than ever that need to hear the Gospel. I just recently bought my plane ticket back home....but it is a round trip ticket back to Spain. I have decided to devote the next year of my life to working in Spain. I'll be working closely with Brent and Cindy...they're in the process of planting a new church in Madrid. When I come back in June I'll be helping them move and get settled in Madrid. I will also be living there......I'm planning on being an English tutor for Spanish kids in Madrid along with helping the new church to grow. I'm very excited for what God is going to do in this new church. We're having our first meeting on January 17th, we'll be driving to Madrid early in the morning, having church there, then driving back to Valencia to have our night church service. It's going to make Sundays long traveling back and forth....but we know that God will give us the strength that we need.
It was not a really easy decision for me to make spending another year in Spain because I will definitely miss my family and friends....but I hold onto the promise that Jesus gives us in Matthew 19:29 "Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life." What a promise this is for us! I will miss being home but the knowledge that it is for Christ's sake makes it much easier to do. I want to be in God's will whatever it is. If He wants me to live out the rest of my life in Spain, I will. But at this point I'm just going to take it a year at a time....and follow where He leads me.
Jesus put great importance on taking time to get away from all the buzz and everything that was going on to rest and recuperate. A lot of times we can get so caught up in everything that we are doing that we forget to take time just simply to rest. We need to make sure that we take time to get by ourselves and spend time with just us and Jesus. Sometimes we go, go, go, and forget to spend time with the most important person in our life....God. So we need to continually ask ourselves...when was the last time that we separated ourselves and devoted time to spend with our Lord? "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God!" 1 John 3:1a
