Well, so far everything has been going good here in Spain. My Spanish class has been pretty good the past couple of days. In one of the classes I actually had FUN! I know. I couldn't believe it either! haha
I am busy all the time helping Brent and Cindy, watching their kids....doing laundry, cooking and cleaning. Cindy calls it the missionary brunt work! But I don't mind, cause in Colossians 3:17 & 23 it says, "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men."
But I have also had a lot of time to be studying my Bible and praying and I really feel like I am drawing closer to God every day. I really want to bring "The Way of the Master" to Spain. I want to be able to go into bars and onto the college campuses and bring the Gospel and the truth of the Bible to as many people that I can. We are in a battle, but not a battle of flesh and blood.....but of the mind and soul. Satan has lost the war but he wants to bring as many souls with him as he can. He will do anything and everything in his power to stop Christians from spreading the Good News. Using any means possible, he will deceive and lead astray those who are not strong in their faith.
But God tells us in the Bible in Joshua 1:9, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." NKJV
God also promises that NOTHING can separate us from His love.
Romans 8:35-39 "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
In John 16:33 Jesus tell us, "In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
So as Christians we can expect persecution, trials, temptation and tribulation, but what does Jesus tell us? That we are to be of good cheer, in other words that we can have joy even during our days that seem like Jonah days. Days where everything seems to being going all wrong. But we can have peace, cause we know that the end of the battle has already been won. I hope and pray that you are on the winning side.

This last week was pretty cool, I was able to go out into the farming country of Valencia. There are a lot of people that just sell the produce that they grow right out of their barns. I had one of the best tasting carrots I have ever eaten before! They had just picked and washed it and it was SO sweet and crunchy. The same day Cindy and I went into a little bar (they call little restaurants bars here) to get something to drink and it was packed! When we went in everyone looked at us, because there was only one other woman in the building. They had amazing coffee, needless to say that is an experience I will not forget! haha.
Cindy and I have also been cooking a lot!!! Almost everyday she has some kind of a recipe that she wants us to try out. And every new thing that she wants to try she ALWAYS asks.....has your Mom made it? And I think just about every recipe we have made, my Mom has made before. Everything except the traditional Spanish recipes. We have made all kinds of things from cheesecake to different kinds of bread and even BBQ sauce. We've had lots of fun making it though.

I have started my Spanish classes. My class is only two days a week on Mondays and Wednesdays. So far it has been very challenging for me. Almost all the of students are Italian and they understand about 60% of Spanish because Spanish and Italian are very similar. So I was one of the only ones in the class that didn't understand pretty much all of what the teacher was saying. I'm hoping that it will get easier as I learn more and more Spanish.
Every Tuesday I have been giving English lessons to a lady that lives in the same building as Brent and Cindy. She is very nice, and all I'm pretty much doing is correcting her pronunciation. It is only an hour long but it is still nice to have a little income.
I found out last week that I might get to go to Paris for a few days with Brent and Cindy. We will go either in the first week of December or the middle of January for a few days. On one of the days we will go to Disneyland and the other day we will get to travel around the city. I'm very excited about it, I've always wanted to go to France.

Hi everyone, it took me awhile to get my blog set up, but its finally up and running. For those of you who don't know I'm currently living in Valencia, Spain. I am doing a church internship and I am also taking Spanish at the University of Valencia while I'm here. Now some of you might be asking, "well what exactly is a church internship?" Basically I am helping the pastor and his family with anything they need. A lot of times that includes all kinds of different things from church activities to helping them around their house. Also I get the opportunity to see first hand what it would be like to live in a different country as a missionary. I will be living here for approximately five months. I would love it if you would support me with your prayers. One thing I specifically need prayer for is just that I will be able to learn Spanish quickly. Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog. ~Libby
